A white sneaker with a dark red growth running through it. The sole is a stack of soft lobes, the upper is a bulbous shell, and over both of them crawls a system of raised veins and small punctures that look less applied than contracted, as if the shoe caught something.

The pitch was that these came back from the year 3022, which is a joke that does real work: it licences a shoe with no laces, no branding, no tongue and no concession to how footwear is currently assembled. Nothing has to be manufacturable, so the form answers only to itself.
