ORANGE
A shoe made out of the fruit it is standing next to

The upper is orange peel. Not printed to look like it — modelled as it, pitted and waxy, built from segment-shaped panels that overlap the way the fruit's own sections do, with the pith showing pale along every cut edge.

Over that runs a blue-grey wire: a looping line laced through the panels, ending in small beads, with studs set into the surface like seeds pushed back in. Blue is the only colour that is not the fruit, and it is doing all the drawing.
It is photographed among real oranges, at their scale, so for a second you cannot tell which one has been designed.
August 2022. The sibling of GOLDEN, made the same way and the same year: take one material all the way to the end and let it decide the shoe.
