Two bucket hats, finished by hand

Two hats, each finished by hand and neither repeatable. One is dyed a deep red and then has the colour lifted back out of it in small clusters, so the pale shapes read as blossom against the twill rather than sitting on top of it. The other is left white and carries a handful of marks instead: a few red ovals, a black line, three dots, placed far apart so the hat stays mostly empty.

The method is the paper method moved onto cloth. What goes on a sheet in bleach goes on a hat the same way, and the weave does the rest. On the red hat the dye sits unevenly along the stitched rings of the brim, which no drawing could have planned.
