LOUERS

A loafer with the seams taken out

LOUERS is a loafer rebuilt as a single moulded body. The strap, the vamp and the sole are all one continuous piece, the parts a loafer normally announces with stitching are still legible as shapes, but there is no join anywhere to put a needle through.

What is left is the posture of a formal shoe on a body with none of a formal shoe's construction. The heel is low and blunt, the toe stays wide, and the sole runs out slightly past the upper so the whole thing sits on the ground like something set down rather than worn in.

LOUERS turned three quarters from behind, the heel and the outer slots together
