HAEMATOM BOOT

A stage boot, and stage boots have a different brief: they are seen from six metres away under coloured light by people who are not looking at footwear. Subtlety is wasted. What reads at that distance is contrast and outline, nothing else.

So the boot is split hard, a white shaft above, a black toe cap and sole below, with a single broad strap across the ankle and no other detail anywhere. From the back of a room it is two blocks of tone and a silhouette, which is exactly as much as it needs to be. Up close the join is clean enough to survive the inspection too.
