Ballet shoe for Foundry Mews / Yuiko Kida

A pair of black printed ballet flats seen at three-quarter angle, scalloped platform soles visible
The shoes worn with tall white socks, seen from the side

A ballet flat rebuilt as a printed object. The brief kept the silhouette everyone recognises, low cut, single strap across the instep, rounded toe, and threw out everything underneath it.

Worn on feet, front three-quarter view showing the instep strap
Top-down view of a single shoe on a pale ground

What replaced the sole is the interesting part: a thick moulded platform with a scalloped edge and a deep tread, so the shoe reads as delicate from above and as heavy equipment from the side. Worn with tall white socks, the contradiction is the whole design, a shoe that quotes the most fragile thing in footwear and then stands on a slab.

Both shoes from above, the scalloped sole edge clear
Delicate from above, heavy from the side
