ZAH
A bag held by its skeleton

ZAH is a bag with nothing to hide behind. Where a bag normally works as a closed panel, a skin stretched over a shape, ZAH is a cage. The structure is the object: a chromed lattice that arcs from the base, twists into the handle, and comes back down without a single flat face anywhere on it.

The openings are not decoration. They are what is left when only the load paths remain, which is why the form reads as grown rather than cut. Light does the rest, a mirror surface that takes the colour of whatever room it stands in, so the bag is never quite the same object twice.

One of a family of bag studies developed in 2024 alongside CLIN, OFFSET and PULSE, each one asking the same question a different way: how little can hold a volume together.
