The production backbone for every frame
Visages is the reason the eyewear stopped being renders. It is a 3D printing platform for frames, and the partnership means a design can go from a file to a wearable object without a factory, a mould or a minimum order.
That changes what is worth designing. A mould costs enough that every frame has to sell to a lot of people, which is why most eyewear looks like most other eyewear. Print it and a run of one is viable, so shapes that would never survive a boardroom get made, worn, and judged in the only place that matters.
Everything in the Eyewear section of this archive from 2024 onward exists because of this platform, including the client work made through it for Syntilay, SPIN OS and Bio.xyz, and EVOS which launched on stage at VivaTech.
