SYNTILAY

Eyewear designed for Syntilay via Visages

The Syntilay sport wrap frame at three-quarter angle on a pale ground
The frame seen in dark studio lighting, profile view

A sport wrap for Syntilay, made through the Visages platform. The brief was athletic, which usually means aggressive angles and vents that vent nothing, so this went the other way and got its speed from a single continuous line.

Side view showing the continuous line from lens to temple

The frame runs unbroken from lens to temple with no visible hinge break, and the lens sits proud of the rim rather than inside it, which is what gives the profile its forward lean when it is not on a face. Wide, low and close, the way equipment sits rather than the way jewellery sits.

One line, lens to temple

A client frame, the studio's shape language applied to somebody else's brand, which is the honest test of whether a language exists at all.
