Tokyo. Art Lab Akiba, July 2019.

The hang at Art Lab Akiba
A group of black works with gold drawing laid out on a woven mat, six squares above, four long horizontal strips below
What he sent: squares and strips, black paper with the colour lifted out.

P3578 was a group exhibition at Art Lab Akiba in Tokyo in July 2019, an invitation rather than an application. Ovidiu sent framed work from the black-and-gold chemical series.

Nine black panels arranged in a grid, each carrying pale gold figures, loops, insects and scattered dots
Nine of the black-and-gold sheets, laid out together.
Two black works photographed on a woven mat, one with a large pale ring and a long ruled bar, the other with seated figures and small framed signs
Two of the framed pieces before they went.

The gallery printed a Japanese wall label for him: his portrait in a bucket hat, his full name, Ovidiu-Valeriu Bojor, and a short biography noting Cluj-Napoca, the art university, and that he found common ground with the P3578 concept and made original work for it.

The gallery seen through a window: framed works along both walls and a standing sculpture of crossed bamboo poles in the middle of the room
The room, through the window.

Two photographs survive. One is the frame alone on a white wall with its label beneath, a bag, a burst of gold, a knot of line on grey. The other is the wider hang, the organisers standing in front of it, other artists' prints running along the same wall.
