OFFSET
The handle cut out of the body
OFFSET takes the handle out of the bag instead of adding one to it. The grip is a void, an opening pushed through the upper mass, set off-centre so the bag hangs at a slight tilt when it is carried.
That displacement is the whole idea. A symmetrical cut would have made a tool; moving it sideways makes an object that has a front and a back, a heavier side and a lighter one, and a posture of its own when it is set down.
Rendered in the studio's black, where the form has to survive on silhouette and the way a highlight travels across it, nothing else is available.
